A New Take On Mental Health
What is The Chaotic Brain?
Thank you for stopping by The Chaotic Brain! My name is Josh, and I hope you're enjoying the content that I've provided on this site! The Chaotic Brain will be a source of (hopefully) relatable content for those seeking a feeling of "normalcy" regarding mental health related topics -- written by someone who has first hand experience dealing with them. As someone with diagnosed anxiety, depression, and ADHD, (as well as many other ailments not formally diagnosed,) I believe I can help many people with their day-to-day struggles just by talking about what I do to help overcome my own struggles. I am not a doctor, but I know how much better I feel after finding content online that I myself can relate to.

This endeavor has been a long time coming, and I'm glad that I finally get to share it with you all. The process to getting here has been rough, and I'm sure the upkeep of this site will prove to be just as rough, but I'm confident that The Chaotic Brain will be a success given some time to grow! There path to getting here will play out in my blog posts. All I will say is that there are a few reasons why and how The Chaotic Brain finally came about here in 2017:
Reason No 1
I'm an incredibly independent person - despite the current situation that I'm in. When I was in high school, I wanted to open my own bakery. After graduation, I wanted to start my own social media management consulting firm. No matter where I have been in life, I've always wanted to "be my own boss." Starting The Chaotic Brain takes many of my passions and puts them into one multifaceted experience - writing, social media management, art, speaking, designing - baking may not be included, but being my own boss will allow me to back more for my family, so I guess, in a way, it is included! |
Reason No 2
Most jobs require working with the public in some capacity. Working with the public makes me incredibly anxious. I'm a "behind the scenes" kind of guy - I guess I always kind of have been. Operating my own online world is a dream come true! Unless I'm 100% committed to something, I prefer not being face to face with customers every day. I've worked in retail and food service for most of my life, and it has made me miserable. Even with a Bachelor's degree, I was still stuck in that environment post-grad. Even being as young as I am, I just can't do retail or food service anymore - hence, The Chaotic Brain! |
Reason No 3
Being my own "boss" gives me the flexibility that I just can't find in a "regular" job. Being in therapy, I need to have Wednesday mornings free. Wanting to spend time with my wife, I would prefer to have weekends free as she works at a school. In 2018, I plan on running for State Representative which requires a commitment to traveling a hour to the State House and an hour back whenever there's a legislative session. I have a lot of interests that I just can't seem to fit in to my life whenever I've been employed at a "regular" job. Having the ability to do the things I want to do in life should greatly improve my overall health! |
It has taken me a long time to get where I am. I graduated from Southern New Hampshire University in 2014, and have basically spent the last three years figuring out who I am and what I truly want to do with my life. Now, in 2017, I'm still not 100% sure that this is what I want to do, but this is definitely what I want to do right now. There have been several failed projects that I've put together over the years, but I have a really good feeling about this one - this one has been on my mind for some time now. The Chaotic Brain has been well thought out, the benefits and costs have been thoroughly weighed, and having just gotten hired as a substitute teacher and a middle school baseball coach, I'll have a fairly steady source of income for the next couple months that buys me time to get this blog up and running!
